TWO teenagers were arrested after a fight broke out and spilled into a supermarket.

Eyewitnesses reported a “brawl” break out outside Morrisons, in Link Road, Canvey on Sunday evening.

They said a security guard was dragged to the floor during the altercation.

Several police cars were called to the scene where they remained for some time.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called shortly after 6.30pm on Sunday with reports of a fight in Link Road, Canvey.

“Two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of affray.”

They have since been released under further investigation.

Children and families were present in the store during the incident leaving members of the public “shaken up”.

Zoe Harris, 32, said: “I feel sorry for the poor security guard who tried his best to stop it, but there was too many of them.

“It took about five or six police cars full of officers and a dog unit in the end.

“They all seemed so riled out, but that behaviour in front of the public for all to see was just totally unacceptable.

“I was with my daughter who was terrified and quite shaken up by it all.

“It took a while to calm her down and reassure her that everything was going to be okay and that the ‘scary bad men’ would be caught.”

The shop was also forced to close until the incident was brought under control.

Eyewitness Hayley Downs, of Link Road, said: “I was walking over to Morrisons to get a few bits and there was a load of police cars with dogs out - at least five cars.

“I wasn’t allowed in the shop and was told it was closed for the night now.”

The 37-year-old added: “There were other people trying to get in and they couldn’t either.

“I heard a load of kids were fighting and that the security guard got knocked over and everything.

“I hope he is okay and the rest of the staff in Morrison’s are too.

“Some of these kids are disgusting and really need to start changing their ways.

“They just have absolutely zero respect for anyone.”
