A car flipped and smashed into a wall and two parked cars.

Fortunately no-one was hurt as the vehicle skidded on its roof outside a home in High Street, Canvey, at about 6.30am on Friday.

The driver, aged 25, walked away from the wreckage and was interviewed by police and reported for careless driving.

The busy road was closed while officers and a recovery firm cleared the scene.

The home owner said: “It is the fifth time it has happened since we have been here.

“It has caused me a lot of inconvenience and I now have lots to sort out.”

Neighbours described the moment the car crashed during the morning rush hour.

Cathy Higgins, 38, of High Street, Canvey said she rushed out after hearing the loud bang.

She said: “I didn’t know what it was but it sounded very serious.

“I can’t understand how it has happened.

“Drivers do speed along this road and it can be very dangerous at times.

“I do feel for this home owner as it’s happening there over and over again.

“I obviously think it’s good nobody was hurt, but there is an issue.”

Dave Browne, 50, said: “I don’t think people realise how dangerous it can be driving.

“This could have been so much worse and I’m pleased it wasn’t.

“These residents could lose both their cars which is not good for them at all.

“I saw the police arrive and they came very quickly.

“I am thinking of the resident affected and pleased there were no injuries or worse.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: “We were called at around 6.30am on Friday with reports that a car had ended up on its roof in High Street, Canvey.

“We received reports that the car was in a crash with empty parked cars.

“The driver, a 25-year-old man, was uninjured and reported for careless driving. The vehicle was causing an obstruction and has since been removed.”
