A thug who has repeatedly breached a harassment order by entering a woman’s home and hurling insults at her has been jailed.

Scott Puffett, 29, of no fixed address, received four months in prison at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 13, for two counts of harassment. He admitted the offences on the day.

Puffett had previously been jailed in September for breaching an existing restraining order which banned him from entering an address in Glenwood, on Canvey.

Puffett admitted the breach and was jailed for eight weeks. Magistrates also renewed the restraining order and extended it to last until September 2019.

He was also ordered to pay £115.

However, on Friday, February 8, Puffett again breached the restraining order and let himself into the address he was banned from visiting.

He hurled verbal abuse at the woman who demanded that he leave the building.

Puffett refused to leave until police officers were called.

At that point, he left the scene and was later arrested by officers who had tracked him down.

Appearing at Southend Magistrates Court on Wednesday 13, Puffett admitted his latest breach and was jailed for a further four months.

Investigating officer Det Con Jamie Collins, of Basildon’s Domestic Abuse Team, said: “Restraining orders are in place to protect victims from abuse and harassment.

“Puffett believed he was entitled to visit the address and believed he was above the conditions of the order.

“People should be entitled to live their lives without fear of violence or harassment, no matter what the circumstances are.

“We have a duty to make sure the orders in place are abided to while keeping victims safe.

“Puffett will spend time in prison and will continue to be banned from visiting the victim’s address. If he continues to ignore the order, he will face more severe consequences.
