KILLATRIX, Minerva Falls, Ethereal Fire and Cover Teresa will all be raising the roof at Chinnery’s tomorrow night - Friday August 5 - to raise money for MIND.

Entry is £5 at the venue in Marine Parade, on Southend’s seafront, with the doors open at 7.30pm.

The event is being organised by Southend woman, Kate Songhurst, who herself has suffered from anxiety issues and feels it's important that people should not feel embarrassed to speak out. She said: “The aim of the event is to raise money for MIND and to raise awareness of mental health.

“I believe there is still a negative stigma attached to mental health. This is quite unbelievable as surveys show that one in four people suffer at some point in their life. I feel passionately that even though mental health cannot be seen as clearly as a broken leg, it should be treated as seriously.

“People often feel like they cannot call in sick for work because they are too anxious or depressed but feel more comfortable with most other illnesses being an acceptable reason.”
