A GROUP of fitness fans have completed an extreme exercise challenge in memory of legendary fundraiser Captain Tom Moore.
Twin sisters Chloe and Francesca Townsend and Elaine Smith teamed up for the feat in aid of the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
Elaine, from Messing, has been attending classes run by the twins, who grew up in Tiptree, over the past ten years.
After hearing about the national event to raise money in memory of the NHS fundraising stalwart, they decided to devise their own challenge.
It saw them complete 100 repetitions of 100 exercises all in Elaine’s back garden.
The challenge included reps of step taps, leg curls, star jumps, squats and ladder runs.
They were joined by Jackie Brown, Jo Marshall and Jane Williams.
The group's ages ranged from 28 to 84.
Together the team has raised £561.94 and completed the challenge in two hours and 47 minutes.
Chloe said: “The idea came about from the Captain Tom Instagram Page - there was a post about how you can help fundraise by taking part in the Captain Tom 100 challenge and it can be for any charity.
"Captain Tom stepped up to help, taking on his famous walk to support the NHS Covid-19 appeal and inspiring millions to donate to the cause.
“We thought of a few ideas we could do, but came up with the idea of 100 repetitions of 100 exercises as we knew this would be a challenge for us.
