DRIVERS will face another weekend of disruption on the A12 after works had to be extended.

Highways England closed the sliproad at junction 27, for Spring Lane, last week for at least a fortnight.

The works were scheduled to take two weeks, however, this timeframe was subject to weather conditions allowing work to continue as expected.

The upgrade has been taking place overnight between 8pm and 6am on weekdays.

However, two full weekend closures were planned with the second happening from 8pm tonight until 6am on Monday.

Now a further weekend closure has been added.

In a Tweet MP Will Quince confirmed the news.

He said: "Repairs are progressing well but they have identified the need for some additional repairs. These were not evident until they started work.

"To carry out the repairs safely they will need to close the slip roads for an additional weekend. Both slips roads will now also be closed from 8pm on Friday 5 March until 6am on Monday 8 March. "Diverted traffic will continue to follow the same diversion."

Whilst the sliproad is closed drivers heading northbound who are looking to leave the A12 at junction 27 will face a two mile diversion.

They will be directed off the A12 at junction 26, for Eight Ash Green, and follow the A1124 then London Road before joining the A133 at Cymbeline Way.

Drivers heading southbound will directed on the same diversion but in reverse.
