RESIDENTS spotted a big blunder in a town centre car park – a newly-painted road marking missing a crucial letter.

A ‘No Entry’ sign painted on the floor of the High Street East car park in Maldon town gave residents a reason to smile.

For some unknown reason, the sign has a missing ‘T’ during the district council's relining work this week – which meant the sign now spells ‘No Enry’.

Maldon District Council have seen the error and have taken it well.

In a social media post, a spokesman said: “If you're having a bad day... just know that someone else is having a worse day than you!”

The marking is now being put right by the contractor this morning.

This is not the first time residents had a chuckle at misspelled words painted in the town.

A "Welcome to Malden" message was spray painted in white on the roof of the Iceland building in the high street in 2018.

Many commuters, shoppers and residents spotted the message, which proved extremely amusing for many and speculation as to who could have reached the roof.

It is not known who wrote the message, nor if their spelling mistake was deliberate.
