A PENSIONER has died after being involved in a serious road crash.

The elderly woman, who was in her 90s, was seriously injured when a silver Renault Twingo and a Ford S-Max collided in Colchester Road in Halstead last Friday.

Essex Police say they are appealing for information regarding the incident.

Officers closed the road, which links Halstead and Earls Colne, between Church Road and Stonebridge Hill after the crash which happened just before 12.40pm.

Police and multiple ambulance teams were called to the scene of the collision.

An Essex and Herts Air Ambulance was also spotted landing nearby.

The elderly woman was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridgeshire with life-threatening injuries.

Essex police have now confirmed the woman died in hospital as a result of her injuries the next day on January 16.

A police spokesman say no arrests have been made but officers are urging anyone with information to get in touch.

He said: “We are appealing for information following a serious collision near Halstead which occurred just before 12.40pm on January 15.

“If you saw, or have dashcam footage, of either vehicle driving prior to the collision please call our Serious Collisions Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident number 443 of January 15.”
