A CONCERNED councillor has called for a clean up after a collection of hypodermic needles were discovered near a popular primary school.
The hypodermic implements were discovered in Flagstaff Road, Colchester, close the the former Arena Leisure Centre which has been shut for the past five years.
Dave Harris, who represents the area on Essex County Council and is also a Colchester borough councillor, said he was concerned about the discovery.
“I have had a resident complain there are needles discarded in the land with trees just past the blue hoarding on the old Arena site in Flagstaff Road,” he said.
“This is almost opposite St John’s Green School.
“There are children in the area and it is a busy, well used road so I am concerned about this.
“I have asked the council for them to be cleared up immediately, and a regular check periodically as the public are at risk due to awful irresponsible behaviour of a few.
“I am appalled at the behaviour of a few people putting many at risk.”
