IT may be 60 days to Christmas but things are already getting festive at Colchester Zoo.

The Maldon Road attraction is getting things ready for the Christmas season and is offering a new experience for festive fans.

Young and old who love Santa's trusty reindeer will be able to go behind the scenes and shadow a keeper for the day.

The experience is available throughout November and December giving you the chance to get up close to everyone’s favourite festive friends.

You’ll be introduced to the reindeer and get to learn more about them from the Animal Care Team.

The experience includes:

  • A 30-minute experience with the reindeer and a member of the Animal Care Team
  • Full day entry to Colchester Zoo
  • Refreshment voucher
  • Souvenir gift

It takes place at 11am or 3pm, Thursday – Monday.

The price will be £85 with a second person being able to be added for £60.

The experience is for those aged eight and above and those aged between eight and 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

The supervising adult must pay standard admission.
