Two staff members at a special needs school has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a letter to parents leaders at Glenwood School in Benfleet say the staff member has tested positive for the virus. 

A spokesman also said two classes have been sent home to isolate.

The letter seen by the Echo says: "We have a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school. In this case a member of staff has tested positive. We undersrand this will cause concern to all members of the Glenwood community.

"We continue to seek advice from Public Health England are following all guidence. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your young person. Please be assured that for most people coronavirus will be a mild illness.

"We have six deep cleaning units in school that are being used throughout the premises and in prioritised areas, in addition to enhanced cleaning procedures throughout the school.

"Procedures we have put in place have supported us to efficiently trace close contacts and ensured we are able to limit those who should self-isolate to the fewest possible."
