Traditional Remembrance Sunday services will not take place this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Maldon Town Council announced that the outdoor service at the War Memorial in Maldon town centre will be replaced by a youtube broadcast.

The council, who is responsible for organising the event, has been considering possibilities to ensure everyone is safe.

But have made the decision that it would not be responsible to hold the normal commemoration.

Instead, a pre-recorded broadcast on the Town Council's YouTube channel will take place at 11 o'clock on Remembrance Sunday.

The broadcast will also include snippets of history, photographs and the names of the fallen from World War II.

The council are encouraging residents to join in the minutes silence at 11am from the safety of your own homes.

Organisations wishing to contribute a video of themselves laying a wreath should send a video to the Town Clerk at townclerk@maldontowncouncil.gov.uk by October 22.
