A MAN has been given a community resolution for causing damage to farm in Bardfield Sailing.
Officers from Essex Police arrested a man, 24, at around 8.30pm on Friday 10 July after driving on a farmer's field off Long Green Lane.
He was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and drug driving by the police's Rural Engagement Team and will now have to pay for the damage caused.
The land owner agreed the criminal damage offence could be dealt with though a community resolution.
In this case, the man was ordered to pay £350.
The man also remains under investigation for drug driving.
PC Matt Harkness, of Essex Police’s Rural Engagement Team (RET), said: “We received reports that a 4x4 was driving off road and had caused damage to farmer’s crops.
“The matter of criminal damage was resolved through a community resolution, with agreement and support from the owner of the land.
“This demonstrates how we use a wide range of powers to catch criminals and we will always keep the victim at the centre of what we do.”
