A DRIVER has been charged following a road traffic collision which saw his car overturn.

Fire crews and Essex Police were called in to the scene of the incident on Prayors Hill, Sible Hedingham at about 6.55pm yesterday (July 14).

Firefighters from Sible Hedingham and Halstead arrived to find a man trapped in his car, which had overturned on to its side.

Crews worked to free the man and he was released from the vehicle by 7.15pm

Firefighters gave the man first aid but his injuries only appeared to be minor. He was taken to hospital for further checks.

Essex Police officers conducted a breathalyser test at the scene and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol.

Tjebbe Van-Dok, 38, of Hawkwood Road, Sible Hedingham, has since been charged with drink driving and is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on August 20.
