A MAN has been arrested after police seized multiple weapons and drugs on Sunday.

Essex Police pulled over a man, 41, on Parsonage Street in Halstead at around 8pm as part of their Operation Sceptre patrols.

Officers discovered he was in possession of multiple weapons, including a modified baseball bat.

Officers also found him in possession of class A drugs and arrested him.

The man, who is from Westcliff, is currently in custody.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We have arrested a man in Halstead after seizing weapons including a modified baseball bat yesterday, Sunday 28 June.

"The 41-year-old from Westcliff remains in custody on suspicion of possession of offensive weapon, possession of a knife, driving with excess drugs and possession with intent to supply to class A drugs.

"Our Operational Support Group stopped a vehicle in Parsonage Street at around 8pm.

"We seized three weapons, which also included two knives."

Officers from the Essex Police Operational Support Group tweeted about the incident after the arrest.

They said: "Drug dealers in #Halstead aren’t welcome!...or any other location in #Essex for that matter.

"This male was stop searched as part of Operation Sceptre patrols an hour ago.

"He was found in possession of these weapons and these class A drugs."
