FIRMS will be able to get support at a series of talks on overcoming the difficulties caused by the pandemic.

Game Anglia teamed up with Colchester Council earlier this year to support the digital and creative industries but the planned educational talks and networking events had to be put on hold.

The Community Interest Company, which works to grow the games industry in the East of England, was able to adapt and continue to offer its services virtually.

Now it will hold six summer digital sessions to help firms navigate the post Covid-19 business world.

Business will be able to learn how to pitch to a digital world, improve public speaking skills and overcome impostor syndrome.

It will begin with a talk titled Sustainable Business Models for games development on Wednesday.

It will be led by Frazer Merrick from multi-award winning arts and education charity Signals Media.

Chris Filip, director of Game Anglia said: “The need for networking has become even more important than ever during the Covid crisis, as we are all working in isolation.

“It’s our aim to give people a friendly place to network, and to learn skills to help develop their business in a way that appeals to creatives and techs alike.

“We hope this will help them as we move out of lockdown.”

Fellow director Heather Bishop added: “Even in the current climate it’s amazing what businesses can achieve from taking a fresh perspective, we aim to inspire and help people do that.”

Other talks will be led by speakers including Milo Skene, Kayla Conley, Peter Cowley, Julia Payne and Cathie Jeannot.

They run on dates through to September 9.
