NO new deaths due to coronavirus have been recorded in care homes across north Essex, latest figures show.

Office for National Statistics data shows that 106 deaths involving Covid-19 were provisionally registered in Colchester up to June 20.

Of those, 29 occurred outside hospital – including 25 in care homes and one at a private home. A further three deaths occurred in hospices, other community establishments or elsewhere.

That was no higher than the number of deaths in care homes at the end of the previous week.

The same applied in Tendring where data shows that 161 deaths involving Covid-19 were provisionally registered up to June 20. Of those, 49 occurred outside hospital – including 39 in care homes and six at private homes.

A further four deaths occurred in hospices, other community establishments or elsewhere.

No new deaths due to coronavirus have been recorded at the trust which runs Colchester Hospital.

The latest figures, which are for deaths recorded up to 5pm on Tuesday, show the last death was on Friday.

It means the death toll at the East Suffolk and North Essex Trust is 346 since the beginning of the pandemic.

There were four new deaths due to Covid-19 recorded in Essex.
