A VAN driver has been charged with failing to provide a specimen after being stopped by police in Halstead.
Officers from operational support group stopped the Citroen van in Hedingham Road at 9.45pm on Monday.
They had tailed what was described as a "suspicious" vehicle from Sible Hedingham where they had been looking for a wanted man.
The driver allegedly failed a roadside drug test and was arrested on suspicion of being unfit through drink or drugs.
He was taken to a police station for a blood test.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “A man has been charged after officers from our operational support group stopped a vehicle in Halstead.
“A Citroen van was stopped by officers in Hedingham Road at around 9.45pm on June .
“The driver – a 24 year-old man – was arrested.
“Aaron Clayton, of Kentmere Close, Colchester, has now been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 1.”
