LIKE millions of other key workers across the country, teachers have been working hard since lockdown began to keep the country on track.

Whether delivering lessons online, or in the classroom for the few children of key workers who are at school, they have done their job with enthusiasm, dedication and a smile.

Their work has allowed the frontline staff to keep going knowing their children are cared for. They have allowed nurses, doctors and paramedics to continue their work of saving lives, care workers to care for the elderly and vulnerable and delivery drivers to keep up their vital work of keeping the country stocked up with essentials.

Teachers have had to adapt to new ways of working and face many more challenges as lockdown begins to be eased.

As primary schools today prepare to re-open for some students, another chapter will open but we know they will meet it with characteristic determination.

At the Gazette we wanted to do our little bit to thank teachers, but we needed the help of our readers to do so.

We asked you to send us photos of your youngsters, along with a message from them, or you, to school staff.

As always, our readers rose to the challenge and sent in a selection of moving messages to thank teachers for all they have done for them.
