A COLCHESTER business has launched a t-shirt design competition to challenge gifted youngsters.

Total Merchandise, which is based in The Crescent, is inviting youngsters to design their own shirt to be in with a chance of winning a top prize.

Ten lucky winners will be selected by the firm’s founders David Stoddart, Michelle Rae Stoddart and Jason O’Connor and each receive 25 copies of their shirt to give to their classmates at school.

Michelle said: “It’s something a bit different for children to do to keep them occupied during this difficult time.

“The entries we have received so far are really great and it’s lovely to see everyone getting involved.”

A t-shirt template is available to download via the Total Merchandise website, with kids encouraged to draw, paint or digitally create the design they’d love to see printed onto the tees.

Entries so far have included everything from “stay safe” messages to designs inspired by favourite TV and video game characters.

David said: “It’s been a joy to see children design something special for their classmates.

“At a time when they’re most likely really missing their friends, we hope above all else it offers kids across the country a bit of fun.”

The competition is open until July 3.
