DOVERCOURT’S Costa Coffee has received positive feedback from customers following the re-opening of its drive-thru.

A handful of the coffee giant’s drive-thrus re-opened on May 4 to “trial social distancing” including the branch in Williamsburg Avenue, Dovercourt.

A Costa Coffee spokesman, said: “We’re delighted to have re-opened our doors at Williamsburg Avenue.

“We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from our customers who are enjoying their favourite handcrafted coffee.

“We look forward to continuing to operate our store in line with strict government guidelines.”

As a result of safe practice, the company decided to open another 46 branches, 31 as a drive-thru and 15 for takeaway last Friday, May 15.

The Costa Coffee Drive-thru, in Stanway, is one of 31 which is now back open.

In an open letter, Jill McDonald, the chief executive of the chain, said they have been trialling social distancing across a small number of Costa stores.

“We have also enhanced our hygiene procedures and adapted our operations, including contactless payment only and providing personal protective equipment for all team members.

She added: “We have received some great feedback from our store team members and customers have responded well to our new ways of working.

“We look forward to welcoming customers safely back into our stores and thank those team members working to support us as we re-open.”

People have been asked to follow Costa Coffee’s website and social media channels for any updates, as the company is actively looking at how they can safely reopen more stores.
