Takeaway staff have been left with head injuries after an armed gang attack in Leigh.

The gang of five entered Kebabs R Us in Elmsleigh Drive at around 9.55pm yesterday (May 17), before getting into an altercation with staff inside.

Two of the five had armed themselves with fence slats and a wooden post in the attack, which spilled outside and ended in the street.

One member of staff was rushed to hospital with a broken shoulder and a serious head injury. Another staff member suffered a head injury and a broken hand.

A spokesperson from Essex Police, said: "The suspects cycled off and are described as being aged in their late teens and early twenties and were wearing tracksuits.

"One suspect wore a black Adidas top and grey tracksuit bottoms and another wore black clothing and was of a slim build.

"We are appealing for information and dash cam and CCTV footage and would urge anyone people to call Southend CID quoting crime reference 42/70244/20.
