AN aerial video illustrating empty streets in Harwich and Manningtree during lockdown has been filmed via drone.

Adam Smith, of Long Road, Manningtree, has filmed a drone video of the local area which demonstrates how the majority of residents are abiding by the country’ s lockdown measures.

The 35-year-old said he tried to capture Harwich respecting the rule of staying at home.

He said: “I created it because it’s a passion of mine to try to show people what they can’t see.

“On a normal day, in 20 degrees, the streets would be populated with people being out, but not during lockdown.

“Everybody is in the same boat, and we stay at home in nice weather and storm.

“The huge majority of people are abiding by the rules, there’s only a very small minority who are flouting them.”

He said the coronavirus outbreak is a unique experience, which has never happened before, so it is strange and difficult for everyone.

“I understand we have been in lockdown for a month now, but if people start relaxing now, going out on the streets again, it will compromise the work of people who are trying to stop the spread of the virus,” he added.

“It’s quite scary as it is, and we all need to stay home and stay safe.”

Mr Smith, hopes that through his videos he will encourage more people to stay at home.
