A MOBILE hairdresser has proved she truly is a cut above after a video of her trimming her boyfriend’s hair reached tens of thousands of people on Facebook.

Emma Lock, 27, was blown away after the clip she posted reached more than 30,000 people.

She posted the footage in a bid to help men - and their significant others - across the country with home haircuts during the coronavirus lockdown.

The hairdresser, from Benfleet, said: “I thought it would help out my friends who had asked about it, but now it’s gone crazy. I cannot believe how many people I have reached with this video.

“I posted it on Facebook and it’s now reached 38,000 people and has had 25,500 views so far. It’s just blown my mind and I didn’t think it would get such a great reaction.”

She added: “I was a bit nervous at first as I haven’t done this sort of thing before. I don’t do many haircuts for men but I did study barbering at college.

“The cut for Graham, I just call a basic men’s cut and tend to go with clippers and scissors. I don’t claim to be an amazing barber at all.

“It makes me so happy to think I am helping others, I know we’re all home and getting bored so I hope now more men can have a hair cut and a bit of entertainment.

“I am getting lots of wonderful feedback with people sending me their before and after pictures. Some couples are also messaging me asking for more advice on correcting their cuts too.”

But Emma isn’t the only star of the show

Miss Lock said it’s nice to have the feedback and the pictures and messages. She said the video seems to habe made lots of people happy.

The hairdresser said the video has received about 133 shares so far and this is just rocketing. At first she was asking friends to share the video, but soon there was no need for this.

Boyfriend, Graham Knight, 29, was only too happy - and not at all camera shy - to step into the limelight.

He said: “I look so miserable in the video and it looks like she made me do it but I was happy to help her out.

“I didn’t expect it to go so well either, but I am feeling very proud of her.

“I’ve have done some modelling shoots in the past, but this was a bit different.

“It’s great that the video had has such a brilliant response. It’s pretty regular for Emma to cut my hair, so no I don’t worry about it all all.

“She joked that it won’t be perfect but we’ve got plenty of weeks to start practising.”

Emma decided to film the video and share it as hairdressing salons and barbers across the country closed their doors as the UK battles the coronavirus.

In the video she talks about covering up before cutting the hair and takes viewers through a step-by-step tutorial on the haircut.

More than 100 people have commented on the video posted on the Facebook page, with many complimenting her for the tuition, while others are asking questions and more advice.
