LITTLE did we know, sitting raptly listening to the Viridian Trio’s performance at the United Reformed Church on March 12, that it would be the last performance there for some time.

But such a glorious concert it was with Megan Hill on piano, Matthew Strover on cello and Tim Rhys-Morgan on piano. I didn’t know the Dvorak Dumky Piano Trio at all, but shall remedy that very soon by purchasing a CD of that piece.

There’s a great deal to learn about ‘Dumky’, but one very important point is that there are six short movements (with no applauding in between them). The movements are brooding but interspersed with cheerful sections.

We truly are so grateful for the monthly concerts which are invariably full of avid music lovers. So thank you very much for everyone involved. It will be a celebration when these concerts are resumed. Until then stay safe and enjoy your CDs. I shall try to listen to at least two CDs each day, some of which I haven’t heard for quite a time.
