A LANGUAGES teacher has had to think outside the box to keep her business afloat as she adjusts to social isolation measures designed to combat the spread of Covid-19.

Lingotot’s Jenny Plumb teaches kids in Maldon and Heybridge French and Italian.

When the Government announced social distancing measures to stop the virus spreading, the mum-of-two faced the prospect of shutting down her classes.

Mrs Plumb said: “I won’t lie and say I didn’t shed a tear when it dawned on me I had to start closing down my classes.

"I’ve only been running for a little over a year and I was just starting to get established and build a clientele.”

But thanks to the online platform Zoom, Mrs Plumb has found a way of ensuring youngsters have an alternative way to learn, giving out 30-minute sessions.

She added: “I think this will be a fantastic tool for families and an opportunity for them to access some language teaching they wouldn’t ordinarily get.

"Not only that, I’ll get to keep my business ticking over until things go back to normal.”
