THE exciting opportunity to see an iconic lifeboat has been postponed as its journey had been delayed by storm Ciara.

Lifeboat 52-02, the second Arun class boat to be built in 1973, was supposed to be stopping at the Harwich RNLI lifeboat station, at Harwich’s Pier, on its journey to London last Saturday.

Colin Trowles, who bought the boat last year, said it is in the process of being restored in Northumberland.

Mr Trowles said: “We didn’t make it due to the bad weather.

“The boat is in Grimsby and we will have another try in a few weeks’ time.”

The lifeboat is most famous for the Bonita rescue in 1981, which was a mission to save 29 people from a boat in the English Channel.
