I WAS amazed by Essex County Council’s comments in relation to the removal of trees at Brickhouse Farm (Standard, January 30): “We want to reassure everyone, this scheme has not been undertaken lightly and once the detention basin has been constructed the area will be landscaped and replanted with 77 trees to replace the 34 which grew there previously.”
On visiting the site which has been razed to the ground I counted and marked the tree stumps and would like the people of Maldon to know there are 194. Not quite the 34 stated in the newspaper.
