Braintree MP James Cleverly has left his role as Conservative Party chairman in Boris Johnson's cabinet reshuffle.

Mr Cleverly, who saw his majority rise to more than 24,000 on election night in December, will instead become a minister for the Foreign Office and Department for International Development.

Amanda Milling has been appointed as Conservative Party chairman.

She will attend cabinet as a minister without portfolio.

Mr Cleverly said it had been a "pleasure and a privilege" to be party chairman.
