HARWICH’S mayor and mayoress attended the official opening of a nursery is Parkeston.

The Yellow Brick Road Nursery held the event last Saturday with lots of stalls and a bouncy castle.

About £200 was raised towards the new garden area at the nursery.

Angie Craig, 50, of Main Road, Dovercourt, has been working in childcare for more than 15 years and decided to open the nursery in Parkeston after seeing the growing demand for a new provision.

She said: “We raised nearly £200 and signed lot of children up, so we are looking forward to our future in Parkeston.

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone for showing their support - the Railway Club, all the stall holders and the businesses who contributed to our raffle and tombola.

“My thanks go to the mayor and mayoress for coming along and to everyone who bought a raffle ticket or took part in the tombola.

“Last, but by no means least to my team at Yellow Brick Road nursery, you were amazing and your commitment and dedication to our little nursery is second to none and I couldn’t do my job without you.”

The open day was held at the Railway Club’s hall where mayor Alan and the mayoress Sylvia Todd went along to show their support.
