THE deputy leader of a major political party will be coming to Maldon to discuss how people can help save the environment.

Maldon District Green Party will be hosting a public talk at West Maldon Community Centre in Sunbury Way next Wednesday (January 29).

On the panel will be branch member Prof Janet Band, Maldon town mayor Flo Shaughnessy, and deputy leader of the Green Party Amelia Womack.

A spokesman said: “From speaking to people across the Dengie, we know that Maldon district residents are concerned about our natural world, on a local, national and even global scale.

“Our green spaces are disappearing, our trees are being cut down, even seeing wildlife in our own gardens is becoming increasingly rare.

“We listened to the concerns of our local residents and put this meeting together to give us all an opportunity to discover what we can do as individuals to try and mitigate the crisis we face.

“We are delighted to welcome Amelia to our district, particularly to discuss a matter which has always been very close to her heart.

“Together with Flo, we will focus on the positive actions we can all take to protect our natural world.

“Once our guests have spoken on their chosen issues, we will welcome questions from the audience on matters that are of importance to them.

“We look forward to what promises to be an informative and inspiring discussion.”

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
