A HELICOPTER, a lifeboat as well as three rescue teams have been sent out to look for a missing person after fears grew that he might have gone into the water.

Holbrook Coastguard Rescue team, together with rescue teams from Clacton and Walton, have been called at about 11.55pm on Thursday night to The Quay in Harwich.

The Harwich RNLI inshore lifeboat and a coastguard helicopter were also launched in the search.

A spokesman for the Harwich RNLI said: “The Harwich RNLI inshore lifeboat was requested to launch at 11.50pm on December 12 as part of a multi-agency response to an incident.

“The lifeboat was released to return to station at 2.15am and was refuelled and ready for service at 2.40am.”

A spokesman for the Holbrook Coastguard Rescue Team said: “On arrival the search teams liaised with Essex Police, determined our search areas and headed off.

“After approximately an hour of searching one of the teams located the casualty who showed signs of having entered the water recently.

“Luckily, they had come back ashore and didn’t require immediate medical attention.”

The person was left in the care of the police.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Due to the fact the missing person is no longer missing we do not have any more information to provide.”
