A SPECIAL service to remember loved ones who have died will be held this festive season.

The Light Up a Life service, organised by the J’s Hospice in Danbury, will be held in the village next Wednesday from 7.30pm at Danbury Mission.

The J’s, which is part of Havens Hospices, also holds an annual Light up a Life appeal giving everyone the chance to dedicate a light in memory of someone close to them who has died.

Organiser Sharon Davies said: “Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time for anyone who has had someone close to them die, whether it is a friend or family member.

“Light Up a Life is a really nice way to remember that special personat Christmas time.

“You don’t need to have experienced hospice care to come to our Danbury service or to dedicate a light.”

Sharon added: “Anyone can join in and you’ll be coming together with others in the community remembering loved ones while making every day count for everyone we care for this Christmas.”

In return for a donation, the charity will send a remembrance card and tags for people to write a message to their loved one and hang on their tree, or the tags can be returned to the charity to hang on the tree in the chapel.

Doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

The service will include prayers, carols and time for reflection with the lighting of a candle, as well as the lighting up of the Christmas tree.
