A DETERMINED parish councillor has helped to save money by refurbishing a dilapidated village entrance sign.
Great Oakley Parish Council was given a quote by Tendring Council of more than £700 to replace the damaged entrance sign for the village.
Parish councillor, Nick Daniels, led the scheme to refurbish the sign on their own, in order to save funds.
Last week, the sign was revealed by Nick with the final refurbishment price coming in at £120.
Nick said: “I would like to thank E-Sign Media and EPC Bramble Island for their kind support.
“The finished sign came in at £120, so £630 was saved.”
Nick’s next project is to try and provide a Christmas tree in the centre of the village for residents to enjoy.
