A WINTER wonderland delighted children when a school hosted its very own ice rink.

Gosbecks Primary School in Colchester put the rink in place inside its hall, opening it to the public between 11am and 4pm on Saturday.

Sponsored by Ellisons Solicitors, the school put on a festive event for all the family.

Youngsters and their parents could enjoy skating and Christmas stalls selling gifts, food and drink.

A spokesman for the event said: “It was a lovely family day, open for all family and friends of Gosbecks Primary as well as all children from other schools.

“There was food and drinks available from stalls around the rink and music playing during all sessions.

“The event was organised by Gosbecks School parent-teacher association and we hoped this would be a perfect place for families and friends to get together.”

Visitors were also treated to a shower of Christmas cheer thanks to a snow machine.

The spokesman added: “We saw lots of smiling faces which made all the effort 100 per cent worth it.

“The PTA have had a few sleepless nights as this was the first time we have had such an event.

“So thank you so much to every single PTA member who arrived very early to set up and helped throughout the day, as well as in the months leading up to it.”
