COLCHESTER Council has launched a new fund to support creative events across the borough.
Applications are now open for the authority's Creative Events Fund, which has a total of £20,000 available to distribute to events which meet the council's strategic aims.
All projects must meet at least two of these aims, which are: the delivery high-quality cultural experiences to audiences, development and showcasing of artistic talent, encouraging visitors to the borough and celebrating communities.
Funding applications are welcome from charities, voluntary and community organisations as well as not-for-profit groups.
Applicants can request between £200 and £1,500 per project.
Julie Young, councillor responsible for culture and performance, said: "We are extremely pleased to announce the launch of Colchester’s Creative Events Fund.
"Across the borough we have a rich history of creative and cultural events and wish to encourage talented individuals and groups to work together to benefit the whole of the borough.
“We are looking forward to reviewing the applications and supporting our very own home-grown talent over the next year.”

Applications close on January 19.
