A WILDLIFE charity welcomed the BBC Countryfile filming crew to a Colchester nature reserve to shoot an upcoming episode of the popular show.
Presenter Matt Baker also met with the trust’s volunteer river wardens at Chappel.
The Countryfile crew were filming at Essex Wildlife Trust’s Fingringhoe Wick nature reserve to learn about fish surveys carried out across Essex.
The conservation charity is celebrating five years since the sea wall was deliberately breached at the reserve.
It is eager to identify which species are using the newly created saltmarsh habitat during different times of the year.
Wading deep into the Colne Estuary, this was the first time a winter survey has been carried out at the Fingringhoe Wick.
Baker met with wardens to discuss river catchment work and the research being used to identify the species using waterways in Essex.
The show, which typically attracts audiences of about 9 million people, will air on BBC One this Sunday at 5.20pm.
