A WINTER ale festival is returning to its original home in Dovercourt, and the organising committee wanted to mark the occasion with an appropriate festival logo.

The Harwich and Dovercourt Bay Winter Ale Festival is heading back to the Kingsway Hall.

The festival had been held in the hall since it launched in 2002, but the venue was not available in 2015, causing the event to be cancelled.

But the Parkeston Railway Club agreed to host the event in 2016 and also provided the venue for the 2017 and 2018 events.

This year’s theme is called ‘Back to the Bay’.

It was agreed the ideal logo would be a depiction of the statue of Queen Victoria which has stood at the top of Kingsway since 1904.

Chairman of the festival’s organising committee, Colin Cheesman, said: “Having decided the Queen Victoria statue would be the ideal logo our problem was to find a depiction that we could use and that would transfer on to our festival material including the festival glasses.”

The design for the festival’s logo has been drawn and created by local artist John Sallows.

The festival will be taking place from Wednesday, November 20 until Saturday, November 23.
