JOB opportunities will be available when a new depot launches in Lawford next month.
Leading builders’ merchant, Collier and Catchpole, has added Lawford to its list of depot locations, in addition to Ipswich and Colchester.
The new depot will be opening in November.
Situated on the Riverside Industrial Estate on Riverside Avenue West, it will stock items such as timber, insulation, bricks and blocks, drainage, patio, driveway and other landscaping materials such as porcelain and natural stone.
The new depot will initially create four or five jobs to begin with.
There will be the opportunity for further recruitment with additional staffing of the yard teams and sales teams in the coming months.
Tim Rowbottom, managing director, said: “We are keen to let people know we are in Lawford and the period running up to Christmas can often be a busy time for tradesmen as they try to finish projects before the Christmas break.”
Mr Rowbottom admitted the uncertainty surrounding Brexit is affecting the construction industry.
He said: “Like everyone, we find the lack of clarity unsettling, but we can’t second guess what may or may not happen.
“What we do know is the demand for housing is still high and people are keen to make improvements to their properties.
“We work hard across our three depots to help our customers achieve this, offering excellent customer service, quality products and expert advice.
“Having been an independent family-run business for more than 200 years, we hope to continue this no matter what happens with Brexit.”
