A NEW residential nursing home hosted its first open day and farmers’ market to support the community.
Amina Meadows, in Michaelstowe Drive, Ramsey, had about 13 small businesses and charities set up in the courtyard aiming to make links with residents.
Paige Webb, director of operations at Amina Meadows, said: “We were pleased with the outcome of the day.
“We are very thankful to the stall holders who braved the unpredictable weather and supported Amina Meadows in its first community open day.
“We are hoping to have more people from the community at our next market day.”
Age UK, Sailship, Essex Care Ltd, The Good Life Preserves and Sew Carrie Crafts were just a few of the stall holders present on the day.
They also had tea and cake at the Meadows Café, where all the money raised will go towards dementia technology at the home.
The home which is due to open in autumn will hold another market in the near future to encourage community involvement.
