A FREE breakfast seminar will be hosted for businesses interested in the latest developments within the energy sector.

The event organised by Tendring Council as part of the Tendring4Growth Business Week will take place on Wednesday, October 2, from 8.30am to 10.30am at the Waterfront, in Dovercourt.

Industry experts including representatives of Nautilus Associates, EDF Energy, Galloper Wind Farm and Greater South East Energy Hub will be present.

The event will cover all aspects of macro and micro generation relevant to the east of England, highlighting the wind, nuclear and micro grid systems.

There will be an opportunity to meet other businesses operating in this sector and learn more about the industry’s supply chain.

Mary Newton, cabinet member for business and economic growth at Tendring Council, said: “One of the key target growth sectors for Tendring is energy.

“Tendring is very well placed to achieve significant economic growth in the sector and so it is important for us to support businesses involved in all aspects of generation and distribution and build upon our successes so far.

“The panel of expert speakers will highlight a range of opportunities, so we encourage all businesses interested in this sector to attend.”

The morning will be chaired by Simon Gray, the chief executive officer of East of England Energy Group.

The group was launched in 2001 and its core programmes and projects are geared towards the sustainable development of the energy industry in the East of England.

The morning’s key speakers include Jonathan Reynolds, from Nautilus Associates, who will speak about the scale of the commercial energy opportunity, Sear Chenery from Galloper Wind Farm Limited, who will discuss construction, operations and maintenance, supply chain requirements and about the plans to expand the wind farm’s operational footprint.

Chris Squires, from Hinkley Point, will also explain the work EDF Energy is undertaking while Peter Gudde, from Greater South East Energy Hub, will disclose the work of the new hub.

There will also be a panel discussion with a chance to ask questions, and plenty of opportunities for networking during the seminar.
