A COVETED Southern Rock artist is set to light up Maldon next month.

On Friday, September 13 Americana artist Mike Ross will be appearing at the Blue Boar in Silver Street.

The “passionate and intoxicating” singer-songwriter has received huge critical acclaim from national music magazines including Mojo.

The magazine described him as “a fuzzed up, fierce and full frontal fiery attack coupled with sexy, smooth slidin’, southern soul”.

Ross is generally known for his performance as part of his own band.

This show however will be far more intimate.

Just Mike and his acoustic guitar will be taking to what is expected to be a sold out space, in the Long Room in the upstairs area of the Maldon pub.

Promoter Tim Aves expressed huge excitement ahead of the event.

He said: “We’re getting a lot of interest in this show and I’m not surprised.

“We’re really excited to have Mike playing a solo acoustic show for us at the Blue Boar.

“It’s not something he does all that often, but in the wonderful, intimate surroundings of the Long Room I reckon he’ll be absolutely mesmerising.”

Mike has performed across the UK, Europe and America, making appearances in some of the USA’s music centre points including New York, New Orleans, Mississippi and Nashville.

Doors will open at the Blue Boar at 8.30pm.

The music is expected to start at about 9pm.

Admission will be £10 on the night, however, space is limited in the venue so anyone interested is advised to book in advance.
