A GROUP of adult learners have celebrated a hugely successful set of results in their GCSEs.

The adults who attend ACL Essex achieved an overall pass rate of 99.2 per cent on GCSE results day.

At least 72.8 per cent of all students who took on GCSEs in English, maths, biology, and 100 per cent of computer science students, achieved grades between 9 and 4.

Ray Gooding, cabinet member for education and skills, said: “Congratulations to all our adult learners who have done so well in their GCSEs.

“I wish everyone good luck in whatever they choose to do with their qualifications be this further study or employment and I hope everyone enjoys celebrating.”

For the next academic year ACL will offer GCSE courses in chemistry.

English and maths qualifications are available for free to those who do not currently hold a grade A* to C in the subject already.
