FORWARD-THINKING students completed work experience to prepare them for their future careers.

More than 100 youngsters from Year 10 at Clacton Coastal Academy were tasked with sourcing their own work placement.

They contacted potential employers to formally apply for posts before discussing their roles and responsibilities.

There were placements at Natwest, Select Auto Centre, Sainsbury's and Little Pals Day Nursery, as well as a solicitors' office, schools and engineering firms.

Some students gained summer employment as a result of their placements.

Laura Letherby, assistant vice principal for careers education, said: “Work related learning is a vital experience for all of our students and we are pleased with the number of local employers who continue to work alongside the academy to ensure that we are developing the right skills for the 21st century workplace."
