A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital this morning following a serious collision in Wethersfield that also saw man suffer injuries.

The East of England Ambulance Service was called to Hudson’s Hill at 7.50am following reports of a head on collision involving a white Fiat and a black BMW.

A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance crew, the hazardous area response team, an ambulance officer and an Essex & Herts Air Ambulance all attended the scene.

Firefighters were also called to the scene before fire crews working to free a trapped casualty from one of the vehicles.

A man in his 40s, the driver of the BMW, was taken to Broomfield Hospital by land ambulance.

The driver of the Fiat, a woman in her late teens, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital by air ambulance with injuries not believed to be serious. 

Essex Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage to come forward by calling the Stanway Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting incident 195  of 29 July.
