A POPULAR village festival is waging war on plastic by banning sales of plastic water bottles and instead selling reusable cups.

Wrabfest, which had more than 2,500 visitors last year, is set to be held in Wrabness on Saturday, August 3.

The annual event includes a variety of stalls and food as well as live music throughout the day and into the night.

But for the first time, organisers have decided to reduce the single-use plastic available in a bid to reduce the event’s “plastic footprint”.

Alisdair Ritchie, one of the organisers, said: “As we got around to ordering cups and things we thought we should do our bit.

“When you are ordering thousands of plastic cups and know there will be skips with cubic tons of the stuff from just one day, it seems awfully wasteful.”

The event will have biodegradable cups and glasses too.
