A SUPERMARKET in Sible Hedingham was broken into during the early hours of the morning.

Police were called to the Co-op on Swan Street just after 4.35am on Sunday, following reports of a burglary.

Damage was caused to the door after three men believed to be dressed entirely in black, wearing gloves and covered faces broke into the shop.

Despite getting into the store the suspects left empty-handed.

The break-in follows a similar incident also involving three men which took place just a minute’s drive away from the Co-op, exactly 24 hours earlier.

But Essex Police have confirmed they are not treating the two incidents as being linked.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called shortly after 4.35am on July 7 to reports of a burglary at the Co-op in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham.

“It was reported three men, who were described as all dressed in back, with their faces covered and wearing gloves, had broken into the shop and caused damage to the door.

“It is not believed anything was taken.”
