A SLIPPERY oil spillage on a road in Ramsey caused traffic problems leading into rush hour.
The oil spillage happened at the bottom of Ramsey Hill at about 7.30am yesterday. *JUL 3*
Vikki Howard was passenger in a car which lost grip on the road due to the greasy oil on its surface.
She said: "There were a few cars pulling over to the side of the road because they were having the same issue."
About three or four cars had to pull over in different spots in the road so the drivers could check the brakes, she added.
Police were called to the scene, but did not have any involvement except for liaising with Essex Highways which dealt with the problem.
An Essex Highways spokesman confirmed it was an oil spill, but did not know how it happened.
He said: "Essex Highways was called to clean up an oil spill on the road at the bottom of Ramsey Hill.
"Our team responded quickly and worked hard to clean the road and were finished by 11.50am."
