A BUILDING company has raised thousands for a hospital’s cancer centre.

Rose Builders, based in Lawford, has raised £6,180 towards Colchester General Hospital’s new cancer centre through fundraising events.

To raise the funds, the firm created an office cookbook, held a pink day where the staff dressed in pink, held a cake sale, carried out a Strictly Come Dancing sweepstake and held a tango class.

A spokesman said: “All of our events helped to raise £6,180, far surpassing the £2,019 we pledged to raise by March 2019.

“After four years of fundraising, the cancer centre at Colchester General Hospital is well underway with completion due mid November 2019.”

Staff members presented the cheque to the fundraising committee and had a tour of the cancer centre under construction.

She added: “Thank you to everyone who helped us raise funds for this very worthy cause.”
