A PRIMARY school was decorated with photographs and artefacts from the past five decades to mark a special milestone event.

Chase Lane Primary School, in Dovercourt, celebrated turning 50 years old last Friday.

To celebrate the day, teachers decorated the school with hundreds of photographs of its former staff and students.

Year Six prefects also took visitors around the school.

Then, hundreds of people attended an evening party.

Julie O’Mara, headteacher, said: “Guests were given a tour of the school, by the Year Six prefects, and couldn’t believe how much the school had grown.

“The evening celebration was well attended with more than 400 guests enjoying the festivities, sunshine and a live band The Hit List, who played music from each decade, from the 1960s, when the school opened, right up to modern day.

“There was a wonderful atmosphere, past and present staff and pupils shared memories and experiences of Chase Lane.”
